Nate Dogg (19 august 1969 – 15 martie 2011)

Cu siguranta ati auzit vestea cea trista: Nate Dogg s-a stins din viata la doar 41 de ani.

Ieri, 15 martie 2011, Nate Dogg (Nathaniel Dwayne Hale) a incetat sa mai lupte cu viata. Totul a inceput in data de 19 decembrie 2007 cu un ictus si internarea in Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center din Pomona, California. Dupa 7 zile, in data de 26 decembrie, a fost externat, dar in ianuarie s-a anuntat ca ictusul ia paralizat toata partea stanga. Desi medicii au declarat ca nu risca sa-si piarda vocea, in septembrie 2008, Nate Dogg a avut un al doilea ictus. Din pacate, Nate Dogg nu a reusit sa-si revina, iar in data de 15 martie 2011, a murit in Long Beach, California unde s-a si nascut in data de 19 august 1969.

Nate Dogg si-a inceput cariera muzicala la 22 de ani. La 16 ani a decis sa lase liceul, alaturandu-se la United States Marine Corps. Desi de tanar canta pentru New Hope Baptist Church, in anul 1991, fiind din Long Beach si var cu Lil Half Dead si Butch Cassidy, se imprieteneste cu Snoop Dogg, RBX, Warren g si Daz Dillinger. Tot in 1991, alaturi de Snoop si Warren g formeaza 213. Cei 3 inregistreaza un demo la V.I.P., iar caseta se aude la o petrecere la care Dr Dre era prezent, iar Nate Dogg se remarca prin vocea sa. Asadar, debutul lui Nate Dogg e pe albumul “The Chronic”, lansat in data de 15 decembrie 1992. Albumul se vinde in 4 milioane si jumatate de exemplare in Statele Unite si 8 milioane de exemplare in restul lumii, iar un an mai tarziu Nate Dogg seamneaza cu Death Row. In 1994, Nate Dogg produce si primul hit: Regulate, piesa in colaborare cu Warren g, inclusa pe Above the rim. De aici, totul e istorie. A ramas cunoscut cu siguranta pentru colaborari, fiind din pacate omul refrenelor, dar a scos si 3 albume solo: G-Funk Classics, Vol. 1 & 2 (1998), Music and Me (2001) si Nate Dogg (2003). Albumele nu au avut parte de un succes comercial, Music and Me (lansat prin Elektra Records) reusind cel mai mare succes, un “loc 32” in topul US. Albumul Nate Dogg (lansat in data de 1 iulie 2004, prin Aeg Digital) nu reuseste sa intre in topul Billboard, iar single-ul Get Up trece neobservat. Cu Snoop si Warren g, cei trei, sub numele de 213 au scos albumul The Hard Way, intrand pe locul 4 in Billboard.

G-Funk Classics, Vol. 1 & 2 is the debut album by Nate Dogg. The album was originally to be released through Death Row Records in 1996, but the album was shelved due to legal problems at Death Row Records, and he wasn't able to release it until the summer of 1998. By that time, the popularity of West Coast hip hop had greatly diminished and the album only managed to make it to 58 on the Billboard 200 and 20 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. The album did produce two top 40 singles, however. "Never Leave Me Alone", which was released in 1996 and peaked at 33 on the Billboard Hot 100 and "Nobody Does It Better", which became his biggest hit as a solo artist, peaking at #18 on the Hot 100.

Music and Me

Music & Me is the second studio album by Nate Dogg. Released by Elektra Records in 2001. It received a fair amount of critical and commercial success upon release. Its popularity was led by the hit single "I Got Love" which reached #33 on the Rhythmic Top 40 chart. The album's success was also because of its various vocal guest appearances from Dr. Dre, Xzibit, Kurupt, Fabolous, Ludacris, Pharoahe Monch, Snoop Dogg, Tha Eastsidaz, Jermaine Dupri, B.R.E.T.T., and Lil' Mo. Most of these guest appearances turned this into more of a hip-hop album than an R&B album. The album includes production by Bink!, Dr. Dre, Mel-Man, Battlecat, Damizza, Fredwreck Nassar, Mike City, Bryan Michael-Cox, Megahertz. According to SoundScan it has sold 400,000 copies to date.
