(Mighty Fuzz Young) What's up? Thanks for having me!
(ELADIO) For who doesn’t know, how this whole production thing started? When did you realized that that’s what you wanna do?
(Mighty Fuzz Young) Well, my family has been doing music for years. Growing up, listening to them, I was inspired early. Around 8 or 9, I was asking for keyboards for Christmas. By 14, I was making my own beats.
(ELADIO) Your producing list is incredible. Please name some mc’s for who don’t know.
(Mighty Fuzz Young) Some of the big names I had the pleasure of working with are Pitbull, Swifty McVay and Bizarre from D12, Sean Strange, Uncle Murda, Jin, Joell Ortiz, Grafh, Teflon of M.O.P, and the list goes on of up and coming artists.
(ELADIO) With so many artists on your list, it’s somebody who you will like to hear on your beats?
(Mighty Fuzz Young) I would love to work with Eminem, Slaughterhouse as a whole, Macklemore, and Big Sean, that I can think of off the top.
(ELADIO) Who’s your favorite hip-hop producer and why?
(Mighty Fuzz Young) Definitely Timbaland. He has been an inspiration most of my career, but I have others as well. My mentors, The Tuneheadz-(RIP Livin Proof), Deadmau5 andRyan Leslie. These guys are all around great producers in their fields.
(ELADIO) What do you thing about the European hip-hop and the European producers?
(ELADIO) Did you ever heard a song and think, damn, I wish I did that beat?
Yea lol- "Are you that somebody" by Aaliah, produced by Timbaland. When I heard that record, I connected with so many of the sounds and felt that it was something I would've produced at that time.
(ELADIO) What tools and (or) instruments do you use?
(Mighty Fuzz Young) Right now, Native Instruments is my go-to company. I like Macshine a lot, Massive, actually- the whole Ultimate 9 package. Nexus, Sylenth, among others are VSTs I rely on.
(ELADIO) What’s the secret for being a dope producer?
(Mighty Fuzz Young) I think it's key to be open to all types of music. All my life, I have listened to all different genres of music ranging from rock, pop, hip-hop, dance and electro. I feel like it has broadened my musical perspective and has given me an edge when it comes to producing.
(ELADIO) You have released "For My Generals 2.0” in 2010. Can you tell us something more about this compilation?
(Mighty Fuzz Young) From releasing this album, I learned how to work and produce for different hip-hop artists from up and coming artists to industry artists. FMG 2.0 was also my first project using audio software equiptment; everything before that was hardware based MPC, Korg Triton, etc.
(ELADIO) Are you working on a new album?
(Mighty Fuzz Young) Well, I just dropped "When Worlds Collide", which is a mixed-genre project, hosted by SHADE45's DJ Furious. This is personally, my favorite body of work that I have released. (Free download at media fire - DOWNLOAD LINK BELOW). On this project, I was able to fuze hip-hop artists with dance and electro-based beats. I had a lot of fun making this project.
(ELADIO) Do you have a message for who’s reading this interview?
(Mighty Fuzz Young) Yes, lookout for Sean Strange's new EP, likely to be dropping sometime this summer, co-produced by Mighty Fuzz Young.
