1.       1st of, thanks for the interview and welcome to www.hiphopdinromania.org!

Hi thanks for having me. I truly appreciate the interview. It is a pleasure to me!

2.       So, who is Salomé?
I am a singer hailing from Switzerland under the label Nah Bro Entertainment looking to make a mark in the music world.
I have always been a passionate singer, but never really thought about having a serious singing career until I met Sean Strange back in 2011. I remember him giving me a batch of beats for me to write. Gladly I convinced him of my talent with the song “Losing Streak” which got put on his last Album “Truth Serum”. Later on he gave me the opportunity to sing over an amazing Snowgoons beat. This incredible product is called “Cardiac Rhythm”. I am super proud the way this song came out and it helped me a lot to start off my existence as a singer. After that I started to be in touch with music on a daily basis. You could say in the last 4 years I had the opportunity to sit in a “crash course” where I learned a lot of important facts about how to make music and the music industry. Through Sean Strange I gained a lot of helpful and eye opening insights.

Sean Strange took me on tour, the first few times I helped him out with the merchandise but after we had some songs together he let me perform in countries like Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany and last but not least in the legendary city of New York! By now I have worked with Hip Hop heavy weights like D12 and of course the Snowgoons and Sean Strange himself.

3.    You are working on your album which is almost done, can you tell us more about that?
After being more in the background for the beginning I decided to create my own songs and put together my debut album. Of course the collaborations I have done so far helped me a lot but I always felt like I am not a real artist unless I have a solo product out. I started working on this CD in the summer 2014, originally thinking it will be an EP. But now it turned out to be a solid album with more than 10 songs and 10524643_681359595288792_6191844099519830319_nI couldn’t even tell you which song is my favorite. Myself and Sean Strange put in mad work and sweat into this product and we are really looking forward to putting it out in February 2015!
It will have a lot of production from Sean Strange on it and a few beats are produced by Mighty Fuzz Young. We actually just landed a placement for the collaboration video with Sean Strange & Mighty Fuzz Young called “Independence Day” on MTV, VH1 & CMT and reached the #5 on the college radio charts in the US, which is a really good look! On my album I will have only one feature outside of Sean Strange, and that is Swifty McVay from the world famous rap group D12 of Shady Records. I am so proud and can’t even imagine that we could make this happen for my debut album “The Princess of Pain”
4.       What about Losing Streak?
Sean Strange and I will release an album together soon under the group name “Losing Streak”. The group was not put at the top of the priority list with myself and Sean working on my album plus with Sean doing his new album and Swifty from D12’s as well. But it is something that will start coming together now. It is basically a multi genre album. A little bit of hip hop, a little bit of rock, indie style. We are working on organizing the rest of the band so stay tuned for details. Right now myself and Sean are the only members.
5.    What up with Nah Bro Entertainment?
Nah Bro Entertainment is the label that I am under. It was founded by Sean Strange and his brother Jay Gill. Sean felt it was the best move for me to be under his label being how close we already are. Plus I am learning a lot and bring a lot to the table on my own. I do most of the in house graphic designing, feature on all the other projects Sean Strange is doing, for example on his solo projects, group ones with Mighty Fuzz Young and his album with Swifty. I help plenty on tour with selling merchandise, and other organization of itinerary while dealing with the hectic tour schedules…
6.    What do you think about the European hip-hop scene?
I have never been really big into European hip hop. Therefore I may not know a lot of European artists. Although I have seen a lot of different artists while we were on tour in Europe. And I have to say that I really enjoyed listening to Italian Hip Hop. But I still don’t find myself really listening to it at home.
10541928_667753549982730_6289127039636383126_n7.    Do you feel the hip hop industry right now? You would change something?
I have not much to say about the hip hop industry. I feel like it has nothing to do with talent anymore. The music that is popping is really uncreative and dull to my ears. Of course I am not generalizing because there are still a lot of great musicians out there. But the majority of the music on the radio and the TV is just not my cup of tea. I feel it has a lot to do with the fact that the music industry is like every other industry in this world, it is a business. And this business is only about money and profit, and not about creating classic records. If I could name one thing that I really want to have changed it would be that lyrics make more sense! People are writing songs about the most annoying crap that nobody cares about. I want real lyrics with emotions and real life situations that motivate the listeners to be positive.

8.    What do you like to listen to and what’s your point of view about the underground vs commercial issue?
Lately I have been focused on our own music, especially my album. I am listening to it over and over again to make sure it is perfect and to find ways how to improve my recordings. I am still a really big fan of Sean Strange so he is definitely on my daily playlist. Other than that I have DMX, Eminem, D12, Group Home, Jazz Addixx, Mobb Deep, Rakim and the German rapper Sido on my iPhone. While we are on tour we try to get inspired by songs from Eric Clapton, The Chi-Lites, Aerosmith, Journey, etc.
Personally I don’t care if it is underground or commercial, GOOD MUSIC IS GOOD MUSIC.
