Interviu cu Clifftop Vandalz (Exclusiv)

10369117_796544710432406_8103439330985628609_n(ELADIO) 1st of, thanx for the interview and welcome 2 www.hiphopdinromania.org.

(Clifftop Vandalz) Thanks a lot for having us. We really appreciate that!

(ELADIO) So tell me your story, how did you meet each other?

(Clifftop Vandalz) Well, back in 2012 Sevsnite released his first mixtape called „Chopf bi der Sach”. Somehow, DJ Spleen found the mixtape on the internet and contacted Sevsnite through facebook. We talked together and realised that we have the same interests and same goals for music. So we went to the studio together and tried some things like producing beats. Funny fact: back then, DJ Spleen had no idea how to do beats, Sevsnite introduced him into beat making.
Anyway, after some studio sessions we thought it’s time to make an album and put some work in music. That’s basically how the idea of the Clifftop Vandalz was born.

(ELADIO) Why The Clifftop Vandalz?

(Clifftop Vandalz) We live in a part of Switzerland where we have mountains all around us. There’s no place in Switzerland where you can see more mountains who are higher than 4000 meters than here. You should check that out one day. So it was clear that our name should represent on one side the part of Switzerland where we can from and on the other side it should represent our music.
So the term “Clifftop” stands for where we come from and “Vandalz” stands for our music, which is heavy, hard hitting and mean.

(ELADIO) You are from Switzerland. How is the hip-hop there?

(Clifftop Vandalz) Hip-Hop is pretty big in Switzerland for the size of the country – a lot of artists on a small area. There are a lot of new artists popping up at the moment. Cool and really talented artists. Also the shows from known artists from the states are sold out or at least very good visited here. But in our opinion hardcore hip hop is not really present here in Switzerland so that’s what separates us from the big part of the scene here in Switzerland. We are basically one of the only hardcore hip hop artists here in Switzerland.

(ELADIO) What you think about the European hip-hop? What artists do you like and what countries got the most “truest” hip-hop scene?

(Clifftop Vandalz) That’s a good question. So first we think that the hip hop scene in Europe is really big and it’s growing and growing. There are a lot of good artists here in Europe which we also really like. For example the Snowgoons, Prop Dylan, Killakikitt, Morlockk Dilemma to name a few.
Sevsnite: In my opinion france, germany and Switzerland got the most truest scene here in Europe.
DJ Spleen: I think that especially countries like Slovakia or hungary have a crazy hiphop scene where everyone supports each other. Switzerland has definitely a true hip hop scene but I don’t know if it’s the truest. That’s just too hard to answer.

(ELADIO) Do you know something about the Romanian hip-hop?

(Clifftop Vandalz) To be honest we do not know a lot about the Romanian scene. We know for example our dude Shushi Snickee really good. He’s a very talented guy and is working in another group called Army of Darkness. But that’s it probably already (shame on us)… The support in Romania is just crazy and the people have so much love for real hip hop especially for the hardcore hip hop which deserves so much respect! It’s not like that everywhere in Europe. Big up Romania!

(ELADIO) Let’s get back to you. Your work on The Bloody Chapter album, who will produce the album and who will be on it?

(Clifftop Vandalz) Basically, 11 tracks are produced by DJ Spleen. One track called “Spiegel” (which means mirror in german) is produced by Sevsnite.
Sevsnite is rapping normally in swiss german and that’s what he also does on this album on all the solo joints. But for the joints we have features on, he’s rapping in English which is very interesting to listen.
Then we got a bass player to add some heavy basslines on 3 tracks.
For the features: Well, we were able to put a crazy feature list together for this album: Swifty McVay of D12, Sean Strange, Chino XL, Blaq Poet, Reef the lost Cauze, ENY The Artists, Virtuoso, N.B.S., Salomé and Äs&ich. DJ Crypt of the Snowgoons DJ’s and DJ Spleen did some cuts also. Everybody who is featured did a great job and the album turned out so dope. We’re really proud of this project.

(ELADIO) You recently released “The destruction”. Can you tell us more about this 1606916_639624096124469_7268723869346238864_nsong and the collaborations?

(Clifftop Vandalz) This is one of our favorite stories J. A year ago or so we were opening a show. Sean Strange, Snowgoons and Sicknature were the main act. After the show we chilled with the guys a bit and talked with Sean about getting a track done for our album. He came up with the idea to put Swifty McVay on it. Which we almost could not believe first. But then DJ Spleen sent a beat to Swifty and Swifty was in and killed it. Sean and Sevsnite also did a dope verse and last but not least we got ENY the Artist to do a hook – a great hook! So Sean definitely helped us to put everything together and the track turned out great. We are very happy how everything went.

(ELADIO) Do you have some videos on your mind and some European shows?

(Clifftop Vandalz) We are currently working on one next video which is almost done. It will represent the countryside part of Switzerland, where we came from. Beside that we already have 2 other videos in our mind which we will start soon.
We unfortunately don’t have any shows lined up yet. But we definitely hope to do some shows as soon as our album is out. We are working on it. And then we are hopefully also available to rock a show outside of Switzerland. We’d also really like to come to Romania! That would be dope!

(ELADIO) Do you have a message for who’s reading this?

(Clifftop Vandalz) Yes, so first thanks again to you for having us. Was great to talk about all those things.
Then prepare yourself for the 10. April. “The Bloody Chapter” will be opened and it will be crazy! We really recommend to check the album out. Follow us on facebook or twitter to be up to date.
Thanks for all the support we got and thanks for reading this interview.
Respect to Romania and we hope to see you soon!
