Grand Theft Auto III este un joc lansat în anul 2001 de Rockstar Games, urmând Grand Theft Auto 2 din 1999 și este cel de-al 5-lea GTA. Acțiunea se petrece în orașul fictiv Liberty City ("parodia" orașului New York), protagonistul fiind Claude, un personaj care nu vorbește, iar povestea începe cu trădarea lui Claude de către Catalina (Cynthia Farrell îi dă voce). În octombrie 2001 jocul a fost lansat pe PlayStation 2, în mai 2002 pentru Windows, iar în octombrie 2003 pentru Xbox. A fost cel mai vândut joc al anului 2001, iar până în martie 2008 s-au vândut 14,5 milioane de exemplare.

- 8-Ball is one of the many characters to appear in three games in the 3D Universe. The other characters are Donald Love, Maria Latore, Adam First, Toni and Salvatore Leone.
- Storyline mission-wise, 8-Ball is the first character encountered in the 3D Universe.
- 8-Ball, (along with Luigi Goterelli, Maria Latore, Joey Leone, Salvatore Leone and Toni Cipriani, in that order) appears on posters for the film Badfellas in Grand Theft Auto III, which is a clear reference to the film Goodfellas.
- 8-Ball's real name was going to be Mullan, as shown on alpha screenshots.
- On the artwork of 8-Ball's prison jumpsuit, it has his I.D Number which reads "010012". These numbers are also the last 6 numbers of the 8-Ball's Bomb Shop phone number. "10012" is also the zip code of Rockstar Games in New York City.
- 8-Ball shares his nickname with another Rockstar Games character: 8 Ball from The Warriors.
- The Guru also had a few songs featured in various games as part of Gang Starr, the first being "B.Y.S" on the radio station Playback FM in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and "Who's Gonna Take The Weight?" on The Classics 104.1 in Grand Theft Auto IV.
