Erick Sermon, one-half of Hip-Hop's legendary duo EPMD has released his long awaited Dynamic Duos Volume 1 , and it was well worth the wait. The 15 song project contains features from Salt -N- Pepa, 38 Spesh, Public Enemy, Conway The Machine, M.O.P., an EPMD reunion track and many more.
"People were callin' me Dr. Dre on the internet," Erick Sermon tells ROCK THE BELLS of the comparisons that fans have made online to the delay of the project, which pairs some of Hip-Hop's best duos over Sermon's production. Erick just released "Sidewalk Executives" featuring M.O.P. - check out the video below.
“I’m so excited to finally release this album," Sermon said in a press release. "Dynamic Duo’s Vol. 1 was a brainchild of mine to bring energy back to the culture. I wanted to challenge myself artistically, as a producer, putting an album together with notable Hip-Hop duos, and now we are finally here.
Right now, it’s time for Vol. 1, and I want that to be the focus—but there are more volumes to follow. I appreciate all of the support my fans have given me and my group’s for the last 30 years.”
In an exclusive with ROCK THE BELLS, E Double explained that Dynamic Duos has been years in the making. "People have to understand, before Nas did what he did [with Legend Has It], I had this idea three and a half years ago," he says. Mine may not have the same fire on it, because he did what I was doing as far as making sure that my era is still alive.
I was doing it on just the dynamic duos in the game, and there are 24 or 25 duo MC's. Tribe, Outkast, Nice & Smooth, Naughty, Lords Of The Underground Smif N Wessun, etc. I was in the mix of doing all of them, and I'm glad that there is proof that I was already doing this. It's crazy, I was gonna drop my Mobb Deep single on October 10, the same date that they released their album.
