DJ Illegal ne vorbeste in numele tuturor celor de la Snowgoons.
(ELADIO) 1st of, thanks for this interview. So wassup Snowgoons ?
(ILLEGAL) Everything is cool. 2009 is the year of the goons so we about to do some moves!
(ELADIO) For those who still don’t know … who are The Snowgoons ? And why did you choose this name?
(ILLEGAL) The Snowgoons are a producer team from Germany and we are 3 members. Det, Dj Waxwork and me, Dj Illegal. The name Snowgoons came from Dets favorite comic Clevin and Hoppes. A Snowgoon in America is some kind of a fairytale and its basically a snow monster that run after lil kids who don’t behave.
(ELADIO) What does your discography contains ? Is “Biz Allez Weggizz” yours 2000’s single debut ?
(ILLEGAL) Cause this was the first single we officially releases in Germany with a German artist called Pal One. Det produced one beat and myself produced the other beat. At this time the Snowgoons didn’t exist like that but me and Det was already friends. We both was feelin’ the work of each other and then we decide to work together. That’s why this single is basicly the birth of the Snowgoons.
(ELADIO) Let’s talk about German Lugers & Black Snow. There was a lot of good names on both albums … a lot of names… How many work was on behind of those albums and how was the alchemy with the other artists featured on the albums ?
(ILLEGAL) We was working on German Lugers for almost 3 years. In the first place we didn’t know that we will come up with a full album. We just started working on songs and beats. But after a while we figured that we have way to much good songs and we start thinking about doing an album as producers.
Our relationship to the artists is really important for us so the most tracks was recorded over here in Germany when we really hang out and touring with the artists. I think this way we got a better basic for songs instead of just talking to artists over email. I mean sometimes there is no other way but at least we already meet the artist or worked with them before.
Black Snow was easier to do cause after German Lugers our name already was out there and artists all over the world show us respect. But still its always a big hustle to do a whole album with a concept. For us its also important to put something together that’s more then just a compilation!
(ELADIO) What about the 3rd album? What can you tell us about?
(ILLEGAL) The official 3rd album The Trojan Horse will be coming at the end of the year. But before that we just finished a whole album with the Savage Brothers and Lord Lhus. Its called A Fist In The Thought and its our best work so far. The vibe between Savage Brothers / Lord Lhus and Snowgooons is really good and everybody put there beat work and ideas together!
(ELADIO) The albums are on I tunes. If someone want to buy them on Cd what they need to do?
(ILLEGAL) Basicly the cds in a lot of stores worldwide but I guess in some country’s they are not available. I know 2 websites that support us from day one and they always got our cds. Its hhv.de in Germany and ughh.com in the USA. We appreciate everybody that really buy a cd cause that way we get something back and makes us going on with the music. This music industry is already down and we def not doing this for the money but at the end of the day I need to feed my daughter as well.
(ELADIO) Waxwork is working with Keri (from Romania) for his album. What can you tell me about the collaboration?
(ILLEGAL) Yeah Keri is a cool kid and my man Kombat from Hades Records hooked us up with him when I was out there in Bucuresti. He ask us if we would be down to do some cutz cause we he was feeling our work as well. So Waxwork did some dope cutz to the beat I brought with from Keri and we send them right back!
(ELADIO) You wasn’t in Romania the last year at the Urban Festival in Timisoara ?
(ILLEGAL) Unfortunately we never made it out there. We had some problems with the train connection to the airport. We are in the south of Germany and the airport the promoters bookers was in the north of German. Basicly not a big deal but on the train there was problems and the train need to take another route. That was fuckin up our flight schedule. We was really pissed about that!
(ELADIO) You have seen and heard some hip-hop from Romania … what your think about it?
(ILLEGAL) Yeah I was on two shows in Bucaresti and from what I can tell that the MCs are really with there heart on stage. The people went nuts and it was real live! Shout out to my people from Hades: Kombat, Dagga, Dj Dox, Vlad…
(ELADIO) The tour is coming. It starts in April 29th. Illegal will be with Ill Bill and Slain, right? You will come in Italy too?
(ILLEGAL) Yessir, on this trip we going to Russia, Greece, Netherlands , Italy, Germany, Belgium and Austria. Can’t wait to rocking the stages. Originally there was a plan to come to Bucarest as well but it didn’t work out with the date and the flights. Hopefully next time.
(ELADIO) You have collaborate with so many big rappers. Would you like to collaborate with somebody but you didn’t do it?
(ILLEGAL) Of course sky is the limit. Personal my favourite artist I like to work with would be Nas or Fat Joe.
But basicly we really happy to work with our favourite artists like Aotp, La Coka and Boot Camp Clik already.
(ELADIO) Do you have a message for the fans and the peoples that are reading this interview right now?
(ILLEGAL) Like I said we not out for the money so if you want to support us make sure you check out our myspace.com/snowgoons page and also our youtube.com/snowgoons channel! Feedback is important to us and we always gonna keep it real! 2009 is the year of the goons! Thanks for the interview…peace
Props Eladio!! :D
